I reached out to our community to learn how they’re adjusting their businesses to weather a potential recession as well as what advice they might be able to offer businesses during this uncertain time.

Trust is one of the most vital forms of capital a leader has today.

During times of economic turbulence and global uncertainty, people are increasingly turning to their employers and business leaders as a source of truth, rather than their institutions and government officials, according to a new global survey by Harvard Business School’s Institute for the Study of Business in Global Society and the Edelman Trust Institute.

Trust, which can be defined as a belief in the abilities, integrity, and character of another person, is often thought of as something that personal relationships are built on, but according to recent research in Harvard Business Review, trust is the foundation of most successful organizations.

HOW LEADERS BUILD TRUST

A few years ago, I spent some time with a small group of senior executives from life science companies. The goal was to get ourselves out of our comfort zone and learn about new ways of doing things.

We talked about everything from innovation to family, but there was one thing that we kept coming back to -TRUST.

Trust is something that we all want more of, but it's also something that we don't often know how to create or maintain in our organizations. It's not as simple as saying "I trust you" or "you should trust me."
